Securing A Brighter Future Through Education
The University of Southern California (USC) is a private, not-for-profit, and nonsectarian research university in Los Angeles, California. It was founded in 1880 by an endowment from Senator John Wesley North and has grown to be one of the largest universities in the world.
Fall
- Apply to USC.
- Apply to the major you want.
- Make sure you meet the requirements for the major. If not, take some classes during summer school or at another college to apply next fall with a GPA above 3.0 and specific prerequisites completed (for example, if your intended major requires calculus but you still need to take it).
- If your first-choice college is full or closed during admission decisions, consider applying to other great colleges besides USC. Even if they’re less prestigious, they may have more available spots.
Make sure you apply early in the year. Apply as soon as possible (especially if your first choice is complete), but make sure you’re using it by November 1st. This will give USC ample time to process your application and notify you of its decision. If they don’t get back to you by then, they probably won’t accept it–so even if you think it’s a long shot, apply anyway!
Spring
Once you receive your acceptance letter, you will receive instructions on registering for classes. Additionally, you will receive an email from your assigned academic advisor and college advising office containing more information about course registration.
The Office of Academic Advising and Support (OAS) at USC’s Office of Undergraduate Admission supports all admitted students during their time as undergraduates at USC. OAS counsellors are available by phone or email; they can answer questions about registration, financial aid and scholarships, housing options, on-campus and off-campus student life opportunities–anything related to being a Trojan!
If you have any questions about your admission to USC, the Office of Undergraduate Admission is here to help! You can reach us by phone at (213) 740-2311 or email us at admission@usc.edu.
