Ug Admitted Students Scholarships
Congratulations on your admission to the University of Southern California! You’ve made a great choice, and we’re excited to have you as part of our Trojan family. We know that college is expensive—even more so when it’s not covered by financial aid or grants. That’s why we want you to know about some scholarships and benefits that might help pay for your degree.
Outside Scholarships and Benefts
Outside scholarships and benefits are available to students admitted to the University of Southern California. These awards may be merit-based or need-based and can be awarded by private organizations or government agencies such as the Department of Education (DOE). Financial aid comes in many forms: grants, loans and work-study opportunities.
Scholarships: Scholarships are typically awarded based on merit or need. Merit scholarships recognize outstanding academic achievements, while need-based awards help students finance their education by covering some portion of tuition costs.* Grants: Grants are similar to scholarships in that they do not require repayment; however, they differ because they come from federal government entities rather than private sources like corporations or foundations.* Loans: Loans are borrowed funds that must be repaid after graduation, with interest added to principal payments over time.* Work Study Programs: Students working part-time while attending school receive partial compensation through this program which allows them to continue paying for books/supplies while still earning money towards tuition expenses

ROTC Scholarships and GI Benefits
ROTC scholarships and GI benefits are available to students who join the Army, Navy, Air Force or Marines. The ROTC scholarship is a full-tuition scholarship for four years of undergraduate study in exchange for an obligation to serve in your chosen branch of service after graduation. GI benefits include a monthly stipend and tuition reimbursement (up to $20K per year) for up to 36 months after graduation from college.
Scholarships and Financial Aid
- Scholarships are awarded based on merit, and financial aid is awarded based on need.
- Financial assistance is not guaranteed and depends on your FAFSA filing date and other factors.
- You can combine outside scholarships with your award of financial assistance if you meet specific criteria, such as maintaining a minimum GPA or class standing (for example, being in the top 10 per cent of your high school graduating class).
