Introduction
The University of Southern California (USC) is a private research university in Los Angeles, California. The university was founded in 1880, and the first classes were held in 1887. USC was one of the earliest universities to be established in Southern California. In 1919, the University of California (UC) acquired land next door to USC and built its first Los Angeles campus. As such, USC became part of a unified UC system that includes Berkeley, UCLA and others.
Academic Medicine (MACM)
The Academic Medicine Certificate is a multidisciplinary program designed to provide a broad foundation in the concepts and skills necessary for academic medicine.
The program is designed for physicians, dentists, pharmacists, nurses and other health professionals seeking careers in academic medicine. The certificate requires the completion of nine courses, including two core courses: Academic Medicine Seminar (MACM 6300) and Research Methods & Statistics (MACM 6310). Students may take either or both systems on campus or online; however, all other coursework must be completed at USC University Park Campus unless otherwise noted by individual departments/programs.”
Accounting (Data and Analytics) (MAcc)
The Master of Accounting (MAcc) is a 30-credit, one-year program that provides the knowledge and skills necessary for a career in accounting. The MS in Accounting program is designed to serve the needs of beginning professionals and those already in positions of significant responsibility.
The curriculum provides students with an understanding of financial reporting principles, tax planning techniques, information technology issues related to accounting systems development and implementation, emerging trends in auditing standards and other topics relevant to today’s business environment.
Advanced Endodontics Certificate
The Advanced Endodontics Certificate is designed to provide students with advanced training in diagnosing and treating complex endodontic cases. Students will develop skills to diagnose, manage and treat complicated issues under the supervision of an experienced faculty member.
The certificate program consists of four courses:
- Advanced Endodontics I – Treatment Planning for Complex Cases (4 units)
- Advanced Endodontics II – Operative Strategies for Complex Cases (4 units)
- Clinical Practice in Advanced Endodontics (2 units)
- Speciality Workshop: Contemporary Management Strategies for Root Canal Therapy (1 unit)
Addiction Science (MS)
Addiction science is a multidisciplinary field that draws on the social sciences, natural sciences and health professions to study addiction’s causes, effects and treatment. Addiction scientists work in many areas, including clinical practice, research, policy analysis, prevention, education/training, recovery support services, advocacy/social justice initiatives and more.
Section: Advanced Architectural Research Studies (Performative Design and Technology) (MAARS)
The MAARS program bridges theory and architecture practice. Students learn to think critically about the relationship between architecture and society while developing a deep understanding of how to design buildings that are not only beautiful but also respond to their specific contexts.
The MAARS curriculum emphasizes collaboration across disciplines and encourages students to consider issues from multiple perspectives within the field of architecture. This interdisciplinary approach prepares graduates for careers as leaders in industry or academia by providing them with an understanding of how design decisions impact society as a whole.
