The USC Scholarships Universe is a database of scholarships and awards available to students. It’s meant to help you understand your options, including merit-based scholarships, diversity-based scholarships/awards, and service awards. You can also use this site to learn more about our Music Department Endowment Fund Scholarships, which are exclusively open to SCA students pursuing music performance degrees.

Welcome to the USC Scholarships Universe! The goal of this site is to help you find ways to fund your education at USC. We hope you will find the information here helpful in assisting you with your financial aid application process.

This article will explore scholarships available to first-year and transfer students. These awards are typically merit-based and require an essay or personal statement as part of their application process. These awards may also have additional requirements, such as being a California resident or taking certain classes during high school (e.g., Advanced Placement courses).

Merit Scholarships

Merit scholarships are based on academic achievement, athletic ability, artistic ability and other unique talents or skills. The USC Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships offers various merit-based awards for undergraduate students.
The following types of awards are available:

Scholarship for Service Program

The purpose of the Scholarship for Service Program is to encourage and assist students in obtaining a degree from USC while providing service to their communities. Students who are accepted into this program are eligible for one-year scholarships that can be used toward tuition, fees and books.

Diversity-based Scholarships and Awards

USC offers several scholarships and awards for students from underrepresented groups, first-generation college students, low-income families and rural communities. There are also awards for students with disabilities.

Music Department Endowment Fund Scholarships

The Music Department Endowment Fund scholarships are awarded to music majors supporting the study of music at USC. The amount of each scholarship varies but is generally between $1,000 and $2,500 per year for four years.
