University of Southern California

The University of Southern California (USC) is a private, not-for-profit, and nonsectarian research university founded in 1880 with its main campus in Los Angeles, California.

Founded as an educational institution for teachers and engineers by railroad tycoon William H. Rowland, who had previously established Santa Monica College to educate his employees’ children, USC’s original mission was to provide practical training for future leaders to serve their communities better. Today, it offers degrees across over 100 disciplines to over 48000 students while maintaining strong ties to the industry through continuing partnerships with companies such as Boeing Co., Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., Disney Animation Studios LLC and Electronic Arts Inc.

Undergraduate Programs

USC offers more than 300 majors and minors. Our undergraduate degrees include more than 150 majors, and our graduate programs offer more than 50 degrees, including doctorates in many disciplines. In addition to these traditional academic offerings, USC offers 25 professional degrees through the Lloyd Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies and other affiliated centres on campus.

Postdoctoral Programs

Postdoctoral programs are designed to offer highly qualified individuals the opportunity to pursue a period of independent, advanced study and research. Postdoctoral fellowships are awarded to individuals who have recently completed their doctoral studies and wish to pursue independent research.
