FIRST-YEAR EXPERIENCE

The first-year experience is designed to help you transition to college life, adjust to the academic rigour of USC and begin building an engaged community. The program includes events and activities that will support your academic success, help you develop leadership skills and create connections with other students.

First-year students are encouraged to participate in all aspects of the FYE program; however, there are some mandatory components:

GLOBAL EXPERIENCES

Students who engage in global experiences develop a global mindset and are better equipped to tackle the challenges of an increasingly interconnected world. Global affairs can take many forms, including study abroad, summer programs and travel. They can also include internships or service-learning projects that involve international partners.

ADVISING AND SUPPORT

At the University of Southern California, we take care of our students. The Student Success Center offers advising and support for all undergraduate students. Each student is assigned an advisor who is a member of the faculty. Your advisor will meet with you regularly to discuss your academic progress and career goals, help with any personal or educational issues that might arise, and guide you through applying for internships and jobs after graduation.

USC provides an excellent academic experience for its students.

USC is a highly ranked university, with the U.S. News & World Report ranking it as the country’s second-best public university. Thanks to its excellent student life and academic experience, it is also a great place to study.
