TEXAS AUSTIN

Libraries

When the UT Austin libraries were built, they were designed to be beautiful and functional. The architecture, interior design, and landscape design are all inspired by the Texas Hill Country.

Architecture and Planning Library

The Architecture and Planning Library is located on the first floor of the Architecture Building, south wing. The library’s hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, except for University holidays and semester breaks (see calendar).

The Architecture and Planning Library offers resources for both faculty members and students, including:

Books on architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning and related topics in an extensive collection of books that date back over 100 years;
Journals such as ACADIA (the official journal of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture) as well as international journals such as Architectural Design Online;
A series titled Bibliographies in Landscape Architecture & Urban Design which includes bibliographic guides for different areas within these disciplines;

Benson Latin American Collection

The Benson Latin American Collection is a world-renowned collection of books, journals and maps that support research in the humanities and social sciences. The collection includes over 40,000 volumes on Latin America, used by students, faculty and researchers at UT Austin and visiting scholars worldwide. It also contains an impressive array of government publications from throughout Latin America; rare books such as Cervantes’ Don Quixote (1605) in its original Spanish; thousands of photographs documenting Latin American history; archival materials related to essential figures like Jose Marti; material about various aspects of life in Latin America including music, art and archaeology/anthropology–and more!

The library offers several services, including interlibrary loan requests through WorldCat for articles or books not owned by UT Austin Libraries but available elsewhere (including other Texas public university libraries); reference assistance from librarians knowledgeable about specific topics related to your research project; photocopying services so you don’t have to make multiple trips just for one item at another library…or even worse: buy expensive copies from Amazon when there’s no way around it!

Classics Library

The Classics Library is located in Tudor Hall, on the first floor of the Main Building (Cockrell). The hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:00 ama.m. to 4:00 pmp.m. on Saturday. A complete listing of services and offerings can be found here.

Perry-Castaneda Library

The Perry-Castaneda Library is the most extensive library at UT Austin and was named for its two founders, Malcolm E. Perry and Robert A. Castaneda. The library houses the most comprehensive collection of maps in Texas and one of North America’s most extensive collections of Mexican-American studies materials. It also features an extensive collection of Texas history, including documents from Stephen F. Austin’s colony, over 1 million photos, and rare books dating back to 1530 that President Lyndon B. Johnson gave when he was governor (1961-1969).

The library’s services include reference assistance, research consultations, and online databases for journal articles, ebooks and other resources available through the university’s website at http://librarylinktxaustin/community/study-space/.

In addition to its collections of books and periodicals relating specifically to geology topics such as palaeontology or mineralogy, this facility also offers specialized services such as microform readers (which allow patrons access to documents containing images printed onto film).
