The University of Texas at Austin is a public research university in Austin, Texas. It was founded in 1883 as “The University of Texas,” making it the state’s oldest institution of higher learning.

- Apply to the University of Texas at Austin. You can do this by submitting an application, which you can find on their website or in person at a local high school counsellor’s office (or on your computer if you’re applying online).
- Submit SAT or ACT scores, high school transcripts and an application fee (which varies depending on whether or not you’re applying for financial aid). If you plan on taking either test, ensure they are sent in time so they arrive before deadlines! You should also include any extra materials like letters of recommendation or personal essays that might help demonstrate why it would be beneficial for UT Austin to accept you into their program–these will all factor into decisions made by admissions committees later down the line when considering whether someone should receive access based on merit alone versus need-based considerations (like being disadvantaged due my race/gender/sexual orientation).
