How do I apply?

You must use the Common Application to apply to the University of Minnesota. You can submit your application online or print it out and mail it in. Once you’ve completed either option, pay any necessary fees (the application fee is $75).

You should also submit transcripts from all colleges you’ve attended and test scores from the ACT or SAT as part of your application package. A personal statement is required; this may be written by yourself or by someone else if they are qualified (such as a teacher or guidance counsellor). Finally, please provide us with a resume detailing extracurricular activities demonstrating leadership skills and involvement in community service projects.

What are my chances of admission?

You should know that the University of Minnesota is a very competitive institution. This university have thousands of qualified applicants annually, and our admissions team reviews each application individually. However, we are also committed to admitting students who will thrive at the U and contribute positively to our community.

We look for evidence of your academic ability through grades and test scores, for leadership qualities in extracurricular activities, for evidence of personal growth and maturity through essays, and for proof that you will be able to succeed academically at one of our campuses (we do not offer online programs).

Our most important goal is ensuring that all admitted international students have everything they need to succeed here at the U: financial aid packages with sufficient funding; housing options close enough so that commuting isn’t necessary; support from faculty mentors during orientation week before classes begin fall semester/spring semesters, access to advising sessions throughout their academic careers with advisors who speak their native language(s).

How do international students pay for college?

International students pay tuition and fees at the same rate as domestic students.

Students may be eligible for scholarships, which are awarded based on academic merit, financial need, extracurricular activities and other criteria. Some scholarships are specific to international students, while others are open to all applicants.

Suppose an international student wants to borrow money from the government or private lenders (like banks) to finance their education in Minnesota. In that case, they must first prove that they have a bank account with enough money to repay what they borrow without having trouble paying rent or buying food while studying here. This means getting a letter from your bank confirming this information before applying for financial aid like loans or work-study jobs through Student Aid Services (SAS).
