ACADEMICS
Academic programs offered: PSU offers more than 200 degrees and certificates, including undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees.
The university’s academic reputation: PSU has a Carnegie classification of “research university with high research activity.” This means that it has been recognized as an institution that performs research at a very high level compared to other colleges and universities nationwide.
It also received an overall grade of A-minus on the 2018 list of Best Colleges published by U.S News & World Report magazine — placing it among the top 15 per cent in the nation for its academic quality, as determined by its peers in higher education institutions across America who were asked to rate their peers on various aspects related to teaching grade (including faculty credentials), student engagement (such as student-to-faculty ratio) and student outcomes (such as graduation rates).
Student-to-faculty ratio: PSU’s average class size is 19 students per instructor; however, many courses will have fewer than 20 students enrolled in them because they are offered only occasionally due to demand from students or instructors’ availability during certain times throughout each semester/quarter year depending upon whether it’s fall term vs spring term vs summer session etc.
