Established in 1974, it is one of the oldest and largest colleges within OSU\u2019s College of Medicine. Our faculty are at the forefront of their fields and work closely with students on projects that push boundaries and make a difference in healthcare.<\/span><\/p><p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">For example, Dr. Smith has researched for over 30 years, specializing in infectious diseases like HIV\/AIDS. In recent years, he\u2019s been working on a new vaccine against the Hepatitis B virus (HBV). HBV causes liver cancer or chronic infection; there are 1 million new cases yearly, resulting in 350 daily deaths!
