Graduate Schools
Graduate school is the next step after earning a bachelor’s degree. Graduate programs can be found in many fields of study, including business, engineering and technology, education, healthcare and medicine. Some graduate programs are offered online; others are housed on campus.
Many people go to graduate school to earn advanced degrees in their field of choice or become more marketable as professionals in their area. Others find that earning a master’s degree gives them more options when it comes time for job searching–they can apply for jobs at higher levels within their current company without having to change careers entirely (or relocate). In addition to these reasons for pursuing higher education past undergraduate studies, some enjoy learning new things!
College of Arts and Sciences
The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) offers more than 100 undergraduate majors and over 40 graduate programs. It’s the largest College in the Big Ten and one of the largest in all higher education.
The CAS offers both liberal arts and professional studies programs, including business administration; communication; criminal justice; economics; English language & literature; foreign languages & cultures; history; philosophy & religion; political science/international relations/public administration/security studies (PSIPS); sociology & anthropology.
College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences
The College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) is at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. CFAES offers graduate degrees in agricultural sciences and related fields such as food science and natural resources management.
The mission of CFAES is to conduct research that will improve human health through better nutrition; enhance sustainability for future generations; advance knowledge about plants, animals and natural resources; teach tomorrow’s leaders about agriculture; provide outstanding educational experiences through outreach programs at local schools or community centres throughout Central Ohio.
College of Engineering
The College of Engineering offers a wide variety of degrees in many different fields. Whether you’re interested in aerospace engineering, biomedical engineering, civil engineering or computer science and information technology (CSIT), there’s something for everyone!
The requirements to get into the College are pretty standard: admission requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with at least a 3.0 GPA based on your last 60 semester hours of coursework. If applying as an undergraduate student with less than 24 credit hours completed at OSU (or another institution), you’ll need to have completed math through differential equations with a grade of B or better, physics with lab components with grades of C or better; chemistry with lab component with rates C+/B- or better; biology/zoology/ecology coursework with grades C+/B- or better, one year each humanity elective and social science elective coursework (must include one literature course). College of Nursing
The College of Nursing offers a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). The program prepares students for leadership positions as they work with individuals, families and communities across their lifespan.
The College also offers a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), which prepares graduates for advanced practice roles, including clinical nurse specialist, nurse practitioner or certified registered nurse anaesthetist. The DNP curriculum integrates evidence-based practice with advanced clinical training in specific areas such as oncology or paediatrics.
For those interested in research careers within academia or industry settings, OSU offers two doctoral degrees: Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD) and Doctorate in Education Leadership (EdD). Both programs provide students with opportunities to research topics such as health policy analysis, human development across the lifespan, gerontology & geriatrics.
Dental School
Ohio State University’s College of Dentistry is located in Columbus, Ohio. The school has a high admission rate, with only 18% of applicants being accepted into the program. The school offers several degrees, including a Doctorate in Dental Science (DDS) or a Doctorate in Medical Science (DMD) degree–both are five-year programs that require applicants to complete at least six years of undergraduate education before applying.
The College also offers an Advanced Education in General Dentistry certificate program, which can be completed part-time while working full-time as an associate dentist or hygienist at an approved clinical site throughout Central Ohio.

There are four campuses in the OSU system:
- The Columbus Campus is home to the leading university and its medical centre. It also houses Ohio State’s research facilities and athletic departments, including The Ohio Stadium and Jesse Owens Memorial Coliseum.
- The Lima Campus is a smaller branch that offers undergraduate degrees only in engineering and medicine.
- The Mansfield Campus, which offers graduate programs in veterinary medicine, among other fields, was formerly known as The Ohio Agricultural Research & Development Center (OARDC) until 2006, when it became part of OSU’s College of Food, Agricultural & Environmental Sciences (CFAES).
