Ohio State University is a public research university located in Columbus, Ohio. It was founded in 1870 as a land-grant institution and is the third-largest university in the United States by enrollment. The main campus is home to 18 colleges and a graduate school with 53 departments across many fields of study.
OSU was established as an agricultural college under the Morrill Land-Grant Act of 1862 and opened its doors to students on February 8th, 1870, with three buildings: Old Main (now called Morrill Hall), North Hall (now Vehr House), and South Hall (replaced by King Library). The school motto, “Learning Without Furrow”, comes from when most classes were held outdoors because there were too few buildings on campus for all students to fit into one room together at once!

A dual-degree program is a unique opportunity for students who want to earn two degrees from different colleges. Students must complete the requirements for both degrees and can choose from over 100 combinations of majors and minors within OSU’s colleges and schools.
The College of Arts & Sciences offers a combined Bachelor of Science in Psychology with either Sociology or Anthropology. The Department of Psychology also has an undergraduate research program that allows students to conduct research with faculty members throughout their undergraduate careers. This could lead to publication opportunities or presentations at conferences like APA’s annual convention in San Francisco next year!
In addition to its main campus, Ohio State has regional campuses in Lima, Mansfield and Marion, southwest of Columbus
In addition to its main campus, Ohio State has regional campuses in Lima, Mansfield and Marion, southwest of Columbus. The largest of these is the Lima campus, which offers a variety of graduate degrees, including a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), Masters in Education Leadership and Doctorate degrees in education leadership. The Mansfield campus offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs as well. Students can major in business administration with an emphasis on accounting or marketing; they can also earn their bachelor’s degree there if they cannot attend classes at OSU’s main campus due to work or family commitments. The Marion campus offers undergraduate and graduate level programs that focus on nursing care and allied health sciences such as dental hygiene technology/assisting.
Another campus is the Agricultural Technical Institute at Wooster
The Agricultural Technical Institute at Wooster is a public institution of higher Education located in Wooster, Ohio. Founded in 1878 as the Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College (OAMC), it was renamed The Ohio State University – Wooster Branch in 1944 and became an autonomous campus of Ohio State University in 1962.
The campus offers bachelor’s degrees in several fields, including agricultural business administration, animal science and technology, horticulture, natural resources management, parks and recreation management, and turfgrass science/management.
More than 60 per cent of students are enrolled in Cleveland or Columbus; many others live in Dayton or Cincinnati. Remember that it’s not unusual for people from Cincinnati to be native to Ohio but attend college elsewhere!
