Student Health and Wellness


The Ohio State University Wellness Center offers many student services, including medical care and counselling. You don’t need a referral to see a physician at the Student Health Service, and you can schedule an appointment online or by calling 614-292-2320. The Recreational Sports program provides access to gyms, pools and other facilities for students who want to maintain their physical fitness or participate in intramural sports such as basketball, volleyball or racquetball. Counselling and Consultation are helpful if you’re having emotional problems that make it difficult to focus on schoolwork.

Ohio State University Student Health and Wellness

The Ohio State University Student Health and Wellness Center provides various health services to students, faculty and staff. The centre is located in the Wellness Center building on 1720 N. High Street (entrance is on East 17th Avenue).

Services are available to all students at no cost, including:

  • Primary care doctors who can treat common illnesses such as colds and flu; provide physical exams; diagnose sexually transmitted infections; provide birth control counselling; prescribe birth control pills or other medications for menstrual problems; treat urinary tract infections with antibiotics; treat acne with prescription drugs or over-the-counter products such as benzoyl peroxide lotions.
  • Specialists who provide more involved care for chronic conditions such as diabetes mellitus (formerly called “sugar diabetes”) where daily injections may be necessary for survival if left untreated long enough before diagnosis occurs–these include endocrinologists (who specialize in hormone disorders), nephrologists (who specialize in kidney diseases), neurologists (who specialize in brain disorders), dermatologists/plastic surgeons when needed for skin cancers after treatment failure by primary care providers due to lack of familiarity with specialized procedures required by these types of conditions.”

Student Health Services is a primary care clinic for students. It’s open to all students and offers medical services, including treatment for minor illnesses and injuries.

Recreational Sports

Recreational Sports offer a variety of programs and services to help you stay active, healthy and fit. In addition to the sports clubs listed below, we offer personal and athletic training services through our Recreational Sports Physical Therapy Clinic.

You can participate in recreational sports activities anytime during the week or on weekends without being part of a team or club. This university have facilities for basketball courts, racquetball courts (the only indoor court in central Ohio), volleyball courts and several multi-purpose rooms reserved for open recreation by students and community members alike!

Counselling and Consultation

Counselling and Consultation is a service that supports students experiencing difficulties in their personal lives. Counselling and Consultation offer individual, couples and group counselling.

Counselling and Consultation also offer Consultation with other university services, such as the Disability Resource Centre (DRC). The DRC can provide information on accommodations related to disabilities, which may include physical or mental health issues.

The Wellness Center  provides a variety of health services for students. Student Health Services offers confidential, free and non-judgmental medical care to all undergraduate and graduate students. We provide primary care, urgent care, immunizations and physicals. Our nurse practitioners can prescribe medications when appropriate (including birth control). In addition to providing medical services, we offer counselling and consultation services through the Counselling & Consultation Service (C&CS).

Counsellors work with individuals or groups on stress management, academic performance concerns, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, eating disorders, substance abuse, sexual orientation concerns–and many more!
