- Standardized Tests
At NYU, we recognize the value of a broad range of skills and abilities. We understand that many ways of measuring these skills and abilities only sometimes fit into a single framework. That is why we offer multiple standardised tests as part of our application processes, such as TOEFL/IELTS, GRE, and SAT/ACT. Applicants need to present their strengths in diverse ways so that we can evaluate them accurately during our holistic review process.

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) tests English language proficiency. More than 9,000 academic institutions accept it in over 130 countries for those who want to study abroad or apply for U.S. visas. The TOEFL IBT test is also taken by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for immigration purposes, making it one of the most widely recognized tests available today.
