Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology
The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology offers a wide range of courses in all areas of chemistry and chemical biology. The department is located in Bobst Library, which is also home to the libraries for the other NYU schools that offer graduate programs (the School of Law and the School of Medicine).

- The Department of Civil and Urban Systems Engineering offers courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Courses are taught by faculty from multiple departments, including:
- Computer Science (CS)

Department of Computer Science
The Department of Computer Science is a broad field that includes artificial intelligence, computer graphics, data science, information theory and software engineering. The department has one of the most robust graduate programs in the country, with research strengths in various areas, including machine learning, natural language processing, cybersecurity, robotics and vision systems.

- Artificial Intelligence (A) – the study of computational models that can perform tasks usually requiring human intelligence, such as reasoning or knowledge representation using techniques such as search/optimization algorithms or probabilistic inference methods applied to problems like planning & scheduling; automated reasoning over complex domains like natural language understanding where these domains have been encoded into formalisms amenable for automated rationale by way of logical representations such as first-order logic with equality predicate symbolized by = (or any other suitable notation).

If you’re an aspiring data scientist, this is an excellent opportunity to get your feet wet. The course list is broad enough that there are plenty of options for students who already know what they want to study or have already chosen their major. If you still need to decide which direction to take in school, this could help narrow down your options and give you some insight into what areas are most popular among current NYU grad students.
If nothing else, it’s worth checking out just for its sheer breadth: this list includes everything from “Introduction To Financial Engineering” through “Operations Research” and all stops along between (including several classes on machine learning).
