Fall in NYU 2023
A new semester begins at NYU, and you may feel overwhelmed by all the changes. There are new classes, professors, and even a few new students! As you adjust to your surroundings–and get used to saying goodbye to summer–we want you to know that we’re here for you every step of the way.
A new semester is beginning at NYU
Fall is here, and that means a new semester at NYU. The campus is bustling with activity as students return from summer break and prepare for their classes. You can feel the energy in the air as everyone gets back into the swing of things.
If you’re a freshman or transfer student, this will be your first time living away from home–and if you’re moving into an apartment with friends or family members, this may be your first time sharing space with others! Here are some tips on how to make sure everyone gets along:
- Be open-minded about roommates’ personalities and habits–after all, they’ll be living with them for years! It’s best if everyone respects each other’s privacy while being friendly enough so that no one feels uncomfortable around them (or vice versa). If there are any issues arising between roommates over time (e.g., one person always keeps their door closed), try talking about them calmly instead of getting angry or upset over little things like these; most likely, there will always be some minor friction between people who spend so much time together day-to-day anyway!
It’s the start of a new semester, and you may feel overwhelmed by all the changes. There are new classes, professors, and even a few new students! Whether you’re returning to campus or starting a new life as an NYU student, we’ve put together some tips for making the transition to fall at NYU as smooth as possible.

- Make time for yourself: Between adjusting to your new schedule and making friends, it can be easy to forget about yourself amid all these changes. Take some time out every day just for yourself–you deserve it! If working out gets your endorphins flowing, try hitting up our gym or heading over to nearby Central Park when classes get too stressful. Or if baking cookies sounds like more fun than calculus homework (I know I’d rather do that), check out our free cooking classes, where we teach students how to make everything from cheesecake cupcakes with Nutella frosting down through savoury pumpkin gnocchi recipes.*
Take these tips to make your time at NYU easy and enjoyable!
- Be prepared for the first day of class.
- Know where your types are and make sure that you have all the supplies you need for each category.
- Bring a notebook and pen to every class, even if it’s just one hour long! You never know when something will happen that requires note-taking (or writing). It’s better to be safe than sorry!
