Undergraduate Admissions
If you’re applying to NYU as an undergraduate, you’ll want to know that our application process is very competitive. We receive thousands of applications yearly, and our admissions officers read every single one.
We consider all aspects of your application in making our decisions: academic performance, test scores (SAT or ACT), personal essays, extracurricular activities and awards; letters of recommendation; your recommendations from teachers/advisors/employers; your statement about why you want to study at NYU; your high school transcript; any additional information you may have provided us with (for example SAT II subject tests).
The most important thing for us in evaluating these materials is getting a sense of who you are- what makes up your personality? What do others think about working with/living alongside this person? How would they describe them?
Graduate Admissions
The NYU School of Professional Studies offers a variety of degree programs. Graduate students can earn a master’s degree in business administration, health care management and administration, human resources management, or public relations. Doctoral students can specialize in any of these areas and choose from several other disciplines, such as communication studies or education policy analysis.
The deadline to apply for graduate school at NYU is April 1st every year; however, there are some exceptions depending on your program (for example, doctoral programs have different deadlines). To be considered for admission, you must submit all required materials by this date, including transcripts from all colleges attended; two letters of recommendation; resume/curriculum vitae; personal statement outlining research interests/professional goals; GRE scores (if applicable); TOEFL score if English is not your first language – see below.
