M.S. in Risk Management and Insurance Studies with Specialization in Finance and Accounting Option or Healthcare Administration Option or Healthcare Finance Option or Human Resources Management Option

Risk management and insurance studies is a broad field that focuses on identifying, assessing, and controlling risks. As such, it draws from many disciplines, including finance, economics, statistics and accounting.

Financial risk refers to threats posed by fluctuations in currency exchange rates or interest rates, market crashes, natural disasters, political instability, etc. In contrast, insurance risk refers to losses incurred due to such events (e.g., if you lose money on your stock portfolio).

Financial Risk Management involves identifying these risks to manage them appropriately. In contrast, Insurance Risk Management involves working insured losses when they occur (e.g. if your house burns down). Both types of risks require different tools/techniques/approaches depending on what needs managing (e.,g., investment portfolio vs. property damage). A person specializing in Financial Risks would likely use different methods than those specializing in Insurance Risks because each area requires unique expertise based on its unique nature. There is no single “best practice” approach applicable across all circumstances!
