New York

University Life

We’re excited to welcome you to our campus! We know that NYU University Life is a significant change from home, but we’re here for you. So, if you have any questions about our campus or policies, check out this guide below.

  • The friendly tone throughout the entire post – no student-teacher relationship here! The style should be as warm and welcoming as possible. It’s always nice when people remember how hard being away from home can be!

Events & Traditions

NYU has many traditions. The academic calendar, for example, is set up in quarters instead of semesters or terms. Each quarter lasts about three months and is broken down into two-week periods called “weeks” (e.g., Fall I Week 1).

Several events take place each year on campus- from commencement ceremonies to cultural festivals to sporting events- that help make NYU’s student life unique.

Campus Resources

You’re a student wanting to get the most out of your college experience. You want to make friends, learn new things and have fun while doing it!

You’ve come to the right place! NYU has a lot of resources available for students like you who are looking for help with anything they could need–and we mean anything. There are dozens of clubs on campus that cater specifically to interests such as sports or music; there are study groups where students meet up to help each other out with homework; there’s even an app called “NYU Help” where anyone can ask questions about anything from finding an apartment off-campus housing situation through dating advice (it’s pretty popular).

These programs exist because NYU understands how important it is for us all to feel safe here at school–and thanks in part because of these efforts by administrators over time since 1987 when this university first opened its doors as New York University College Of Medicine before changing its name later down south during expansion projects throughout history…

Travel & Transportation

NYU is located in New York City, so travel and transportation is a big part of the university experience. Transportation options include the subway system (which runs 24 hours), buses and taxis. Suppose you’re looking to get around campus more easily and quickly. In that case, there’s also an extensive shuttle system that runs between campuses as well as other areas of Manhattan.

The NYU bike share program offers bikes for rent at various locations across both campuses; they can be used for up to 24 hours at no cost! The program allows students who register online to use their student ID card as a key when checking out or returning rental bikes from any station on campus or close by (e.g., Union Square). If riding isn’t for you but driving isn’t either–or maybe even if it is!–you might want to consider one of NYU’s car-sharing services instead: Zipcar offers memberships starting at $7 per month, which can be used toward hourly rentals through its mobile app or website interface; At the same time, Getaround lets users rent out their vehicles by connecting them directly with renters via an app interface.

Athletics

NYU is home to a wide variety of sports teams. The university competes in the NCAA Division III and has won many championships. In addition to being athletic, there are many facilities for students to enjoy their free time at NYU.

The university offers intramural sports for students who want to stay active while having fun with their friends on campus. More than 25 different sports are offered throughout the year, including basketball, dodgeball, floor hockey and soccer–to name a few! These are under “Intramural Sports” on NYU’s website (nyuadmissionsvp1).

In addition to this great opportunity available within our community here at NYU-Polytechnic School of Engineering & Applied Science, we also have access to various other gyms around Long Island City, such as Spectrum Athletic Club, which offers memberships at affordable prices ranging from $5-$10 per month depending on how long you sign up for (spectrumbklyn).

Arts, Culture, and Entertainment

NYU has a rich history of arts and culture. There are many events and festivals throughout the year, including the renowned Film Festival, which showcases student films worldwide. NYU is home to many famous artists, musicians, actors and more–such as Lena Dunham (creator/star of HBO’s “Girls”), who graduated from Barnard College in 2008; John Oliver (host of HBO’s “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver”) who graduated from here in 2001; and Robert De Niro (“The Godfather,” “Raging Bull”).

NYU also has a vibrant nightlife scene with clubs like The Tunnel and Webster Hall nearby on East 11th Street or spots like Barcade or Joe’s Pub on Lafayette Street if you want something more low-key but still fun!

NYU is a great place to get your education. The university has a diverse community, with students from all over the world coming together to learn and grow. Students here can also benefit from having some of the best professors in their fields and access to many resources on campus.

The beautiful campus has plenty of green spaces and even its art museum! There are lots of opportunities for students who want to get involved outside of their classes, too–you can join clubs or student organizations (like our own), participate in events like concerts and festivals that happen around campus every year, or even hang out with friends at one of our many cafes or restaurants!
