About
Admissions
The Gallatin admissions process is a comprehensive and holistic review of your application. The Admissions Committee considers all aspects of your candidacy, including:
- Your academic record (grades, standardized test scores)
- Your extracurricular activities and leadership experience
- Your essays (personal statement and optional essay)
- Letters of recommendation (two required; one optional)
Academics
The Gallatin curriculum is individualized, meaning that students work with their faculty advisors to develop a course of study that reflects their interests and career goals. Students can choose from many classes offered at NYU’s five schools. There are no required courses, but most students take several core courses in areas such as business writing or critical thinking alongside electives such as “Gestalt Therapy” or “Social Media Marketing.”
Financial aid
- Need-based financial aid is provided to students who demonstrate a financial need. This could be due to the cost of attending NYU Gallatin, unexpected expenses, or other circumstances that make it difficult to pay your tuition bill.
- Merit-based financial aid is awarded based on academic merit and talent in performing arts or athletics. If you qualify for this assistance, it’s usually granted as scholarships or grants (non-repayable funds).
- Scholarships and grants are another form of grant money that doesn’t require repayment after graduation–they’re often need-based. Still, they may also be merit-based depending on requirements set out by each scholarship provider. Some examples include: – The Gallatin Scholarship Fund provides full tuition coverage plus room and board costs for first-year students only – The NYU Alumni Association Scholarship Program offers up to $10,000 per academic year if you meet their criteria.
