- Second Bachelor’s Degree applicants
I’m sure you’ve all heard the famous saying, “Never say never.” We’re no strangers to this, especially regarding our education. If you have a bachelor’s degree and are considering applying to New York University (NYU) for your second degree, keep reading.
First off, if you’re still in high school or college, you should have no problem getting into NYU; however, there is one exception: if you’re a freshman and have only completed one year at another institution, then you’ll need to wait until next year before applying here. With that being said…here’s what else we’d like you to know:
How to apply
- When is the application deadline?
The application deadline for all programs except NYU Stern’s Dual Degree Program and the School of Medicine is January 15. For the Stern program and School of Medicine, it’s November 1.
- Can I apply through Early Decision?
Yes! Students who wish to apply through Early Decision must submit their completed applications by December 1. Students granted admission under this program cannot use it anywhere else during regular admission cycles (January 15). Suppose you’re admitted as an Early Decision candidate but later decide that NYU isn’t right for you. In that case, there will be no refund on any tuition paid or financial aid awarded if you choose not to attend NYU because of its decision regarding your early admission status–even if it was made before classes even started!
Application requirements
The application requires the following:
- A completed online application form.
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
- Official test scores for all test(s) taken, including the SAT or ACT, TOEFL (if applicable), Praxis Series Tests (if applicable), and GRE/GMAT (if applicable). You can request that these tests be sent to us using code 7419 on your official score report(s). Please note that we will not accept copies of any documents sent via fax or email. They must be sent directly from your educational institution in an envelope sealed with its stamp/seal or signature line across the envelope’s flap.

Sending documents
The next step is to send your documents to the address given on the NYU website. You can mail them or email them, but we r
- Send all documents online.
- Send official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions you have attended. You can do this through the NYU Global Portal or by mail. However, we strongly recommend using our secure online system to submit your application materials and supporting documents because it is faster, easier and more convenient for you and the Office of Admissions. Suppose you choose to send your documents by mail. In that case, they must be sent directly from the institution in an envelope bearing its official seal (or signature stamp).
ecommend using couriers such as UPS or FedEx so that they arrive quickly and safely. Please note that some schools require that students’ applications be sent in a sealed envelope, while others accept unsecured packages (as long as they are padded). If you need clarification on whether your school has specific requirements regarding packaging materials, check with them before sending anything off!

To apply to NYU, you must submit the following documents:
- GRE scores (if you have taken the test)
- TOEFL or IELTS scores (if necessary)
- GMAT scores (if you are a graduate student)
Transcripts
Transcripts are required from all colleges and universities attended. Transcripts must be sent directly to NYU from the institution, not from a student or third party. Please note that we do not accept faxes or scanned copies of your transcripts; these will not be taken as official documents.
In addition to an English translation, if your transcripts are in another language (other than English), they must also include the following:
- A credential evaluation report consists of an evaluation of coursework completed at each institution and lists grades earned for each course. This report should come directly from one of our approved credential evaluation services: Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE), World Education Services (WES), International Education Research Foundation (IERF) or Josef Silny & Associates
