Scholarships

There are many scholarships available to IUPUI graduate students. Scholarships are awarded based on merit, financial need, or other criteria. Some scholarships are only available to students in a specific field of study; others are open to all IUPUI graduate students regardless of their major or concentration.

Some common reasons why you might be eligible for an IUPUI scholarship include:

  • You have been involved in extracurricular activities such as volunteering or participating in campus organizations (such as student government).
  • You’ve worked hard throughout high school and college and maintained good grades, especially during your first two years at IUPUI!

Financial Aid

  • Scholarships are awards that do not need to be repaid but often come with specific requirements and restrictions.
  • Grants are similar to scholarships because they do not have to be repaid. However, unlike scholarships, they do not require applicants to have high academic achievement or meet other eligibility criteria (such as maintaining a certain GPA).
  • Loans allow you to borrow money from the government or a private lender and pay it back with interest over time. They’re most commonly used when your budget doesn’t cover all of your expenses at once–but before taking out any loans for your education, remember that this will add more debt onto your plate!
  • Work-study programs allow students who qualify for financial aid through the school’s Office of Financial Assistance (FAA) program or another provider like AmeriCorps or Peace Corps Volunteers In Service To America (VISTA) to provide funding through an employer partner organization whose mission is consistent with IUPUI’s values statement by offering opportunities for community outreach projects related to serving underserved populations locally within Indianapolis metropolitan area communities.”
