Apply
To apply for the program, you must:
- Apply online. You can do so here.
- Apply to IUPUI. You must be accepted into an undergraduate degree program at IUPUI before applying to this graduate program. If you’re interested in pursuing an MFA or PhD, please visit our website for more information about those programs and how to apply for them directly through the School of Liberal Arts & Sciences (SLAS).
- Submit all required documents (listed below). EDUCATION DOCUMENTS: All official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended sent directly from each institution must be submitted electronically via Parchment or uploaded into your application via Canvas (IUPUI’s student portal). TRANSCRIPTS WITH LOW GRADE POINT AVERAGES WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR ADMISSION TO THIS PROGRAM AND WILL RESULT IN YOUR APPLICATION REJECTION!
IUPUI is the largest public university in Indiana. It has a beautiful campus, a diverse student body and faculty, and many top-ranked graduate programs. If you want to get your master’s degree from IUPUI, here are some things you should know:
Requirements
Deadlines
If you’re an undergraduate student, your application deadline is January 15. If you’re a graduate student, however, your deadline is April 1–and unlike many schools that have rolling admissions policies for graduate students (meaning that applications are accepted throughout the year), IUPUI has two separate deadlines: one for priority consideration and another for regular care.
If you miss these dates by even a day or two, getting into school can cost you dearly!
Financial Aid
You can apply for financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form is available online or at any college or university.
If accepted into IUPUI, you will receive an award letter detailing your financial aid package. If you’re eligible for need-based grants, scholarships and loans, they will be listed in this letter. If not all of your costs are covered by these funds alone–and they may not be–you may also need to consider taking out student loans as part of your total funding package from IUPUI.
Scholarships
The IUPUI School of Education offers scholarships to students pursuing their graduate degrees. These awards are merit-based and need-based, which means that you’ll have an opportunity to apply for them if you meet the criteria set by each scholarship.
If you’re applying for your first master’s degree or higher, additional opportunities may be available through the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships (OFS). Some examples include:
- The Graduate Student Tuition Waiver Program (GSW) is offered to new full-time graduate students who enrol in an eligible program at IUPUI beginning in Fall 2017. You must be an Indiana resident attending an Indiana public university or college and demonstrate financial need as determined by OFS using federal tax information provided on your FAFSA application form. The amount varies based upon your status as a Dependent or Independent Student, but can range anywhere from $5-$10k annually!
- International Students will automatically receive consideration without having to submit additional documents unless otherwise noted on our website; however, we strongly encourage all international applicants, regardless of citizenship status or visa type(s) held before/during the admission process review carefully how many semesters (4 year maximum) they plan on studying here before applying so we can better assist them throughout their journey towards earning degrees locally rather than abroad.”
