The university offers many undergraduate degree programs

The university offers many undergraduate degree programs. You can major in anything from business to engineering to social sciences or minor in something like art, music or languages. Choose a dual degree or double major if you want a more specialized focus.

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign offers more than 275 undergraduate majors and minors that prepare students for careers across all fields of study–from architecture to zoology–as well as graduate school opportunities at one of its 17 graduate schools and colleges (or both!).

You can enrol in a four-year program or a five-year program.

The four-year program is a standard degree plan that requires 120 credit hours, while the five-year program provides students with an accelerated way to earn both their bachelor’s and master’s degrees in five years. This option is only for some; some students will find it difficult or impossible to complete their requirements within this timeframe due to other commitments such as jobs or internships, personal issues like illness or family emergencies, etc. Still, others may find it ideal for their needs.

If you choose to take advantage of this option: You must meet specific requirements when completing your undergraduate studies at Illinois (such as completing all required courses) before applying for admission into graduate school; however, once admitted into graduate school (or even before), there are no limits on how early/late one can begin taking courses towards completion as long as they satisfy all prerequisites first! In addition – because these courses count towards both degrees simultaneously – some majors require additional coursework beyond what would usually be necessary just because they overlap so heavily with each other; this means that while we do strongly encourage our students who have chosen dual degree programs such as ours here at Illinois’ College Of  Engineering And Applied Science (CEAS) where there exist plenty opportunities available thanks primarily due largely mainly due.

The university offers more than 275 undergraduate majors and minors

The University of Illinois offers more than 275 undergraduate majors and minors. You can choose from the following options:

  • Majors are programs focusing on one subject area, such as chemistry or computer science. They usually require 120 credit hours of coursework and may include a thesis or other culminating project in your degree requirements.
  • Minors are smaller concentrations within a major field, such as the Russian language within English Literature (English Language & Literature). They usually require between 30 and 39 credits depending on whether you take them independently or through another department’s program, some minors also require an internship or capstone project to graduate with them completed!

If you don’t know which combination would work best for you yet, don’t worry! University have plenty more advice coming up soon 🙂

Some majors require students to complete a senior year project, known as a capstone project

Capstone projects are a great way to gain experience, often completed in groups. The project is usually research or creative, allowing students to showcase their skills and knowledge.

Capstone projects are usually done in the senior year of college, meaning you have time to explore your interests before committing to one specific field of study.

Many students also pursue dual degrees or minors

You can also pursue dual degrees, which are a way to earn two undergraduate degrees in less time. For example, you could complete a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Science degree within five years.

Minors are another popular option for U of I students. A minor is an area of interest outside your major that complements your studies at Illinois or prepares you for graduate school. Minors can be completed in one year or over two years, depending on how many courses they require (a minimum of six). They allow students to enrich their education by studying something outside their field or adding another area of study that interests them but doesn’t fit into their major requirements.

Students can gain real-world experience through internships, research opportunities and study abroad programs

You can gain real-world experience through internships, research opportunities and study abroad programs.

  • Internships allow you to work in an industry that interests you. This will help you determine if this is a career path that’s right for you and provide networking opportunities once your degree is complete.
  • Research opportunities allow students to apply their knowledge in an academic setting and get credit towards their degree while doing it! Be sure to check out our Undergraduate Research Guide for more information on how this could benefit your studies at Illinois! (link)
  • Study Abroad Programs offer students the chance to study abroad at one of our international partner institutions worldwide; this experience will enrich their education by exposing them to different cultures and worldviews than what they learned in classes here on campus.”
