How to Apply for UIC Scholarships

To apply for a scholarship, you must be a full-time undergraduate student and meet specific eligibility requirements. These include:

  • Being a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (or eligible noncitizen) who has been accepted into the University of Illinois College at Chicago campus.
  • Enrolling in 12 or more credit hours as an undergraduate student at UIC this upcoming fall semester;
  • You must also have a minimum 2.5 GPA on your academic record as an incoming first-year student (or first-year graduate).
Understand the Requirements of Each Scholarship

Before you apply, make sure you understand the requirements of each scholarship. Some scholarships require a GPA above a specific number, and others need you to be in good academic standing with your current school. If these requirements are not met by the time of application or during the semester you apply, it could disqualify your application.

If there are any questions about whether or not your qualifications meet these requirements and how they affect your eligibility for an award, contact UIC and its Scholarship Office directly for clarification before proceeding with an application.

Follow the Instructions for Submission and Payment
  • Submitting your application by the deadline is the first step to getting a scholarship. The University of Illinois Chicago Scholarship Application Process begins on February 1 and ends on April 30.
  • You must pay an application fee for each scholarship you apply for; this fee does not count towards your financial aid award but can be used as a credit towards future tuition costs at UIC or any other institution of higher education in Illinois. The amount varies depending on what type of scholarship you’re applying for (e.g., merit-based vs. need-based) and whether or not it requires additional documentation.
  • All required documents must be submitted online through our secure portal within two weeks of submitting your online application.
